At Allegra School, Harmony Day is more than just a date on the calendar — it is a reflection of who we are and what we stand for. Celebrated annually on March 21st, Harmony Day promotes inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. This year, our Harmony Day Assembly captured the spirit of the national message, “Everyone Belongs,” with warmth, vibrancy, and unity.
A Day of Student Voice and Leadership
This year’s assembly was entirely organised and facilitated by our Student Action Ambassadors, showcasing not just our students’ leadership, but their deep understanding of equity, empathy, and empowerment. They wrote and delivered personalised poems and acknowledgements that gave voice to the unique experiences within our school community. Their thoughtful words reminded us of the power of storytelling, and the importance of listening with care and respect.
A particularly moving moment came during a discussion led by student Tyla Long, who interviewed guest speaker Antonio Aljamaly. Their conversation delved into the lived realities of escaping war, moving to a new country and navigating cultural identity in modern Australia. The respectful and deeply honest exchange was a testament to the values we hold dear at Allegra — acceptance, connection, and collaboration.
Celebrating Diversity Through Food and Fellowship
Harmony Day is also a time to come together — and what better way than over a shared meal? Our multicultural luncheon in the common room was a delicious celebration of the many cultures that enrich our community. A warm thank you to all the families who contributed their culinary talents to make the event such a success. It was a joyful reminder that food has a special way of bringing people together.

Why Harmony Day Matters
In a world that can often feel divided, Harmony Day provides a vital opportunity to reflect, connect, and take action. At Allegra, we believe in building a future where all students feel seen, heard, and valued. By recognising and celebrating days like Harmony Day, we teach our young people that diversity is not just something to accept, it’s something to celebrate.
A Call to Action
As we look ahead, let’s carry the spirit of Harmony Day with us every day. Let’s stand against racism, embrace our differences, and commit to creating spaces, in our classrooms, homes, and communities, where everyone truly belongs. We encourage all members of our school community to continue these conversations, challenge bias where it appears, and uplift the voices that are too often unheard.
Let Harmony Day be a reminder that together, we are stronger, and that each of us has a role to play in shaping a more inclusive, compassionate Australia.
