Throughout Semester One, a group of Allegra students participated in the Top Blokes Mentoring Program, an evidence based initiative designed to support young men in developing confidence, resilience, respectful relationships and positive life skills.
Delivered in partnership with Benn, Allegra’s Wellbeing Teacher, Alex from BlueSky Community Services and supported by Allegra staff, the program provided students with a safe and supportive environment to engage in meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities young people face today.
Learning Through Connection
Across the semester, students participated in weekly workshops that combined interactive activities, group discussions and practical learning experiences. Beginning with teamwork, communication and leadership, the program gradually introduced more complex topics including healthy relationships, help seeking, online behaviour, stereotypes of masculinity, racism, drugs and alcohol, and the social pressures often experienced by teenage boys.
The workshops encouraged students to share their perspectives, listen to the experiences of others and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Building Respect and Resilience
The evidence based Top Blokes program focuses on helping young men develop emotional awareness, make positive choices and build respectful relationships. Throughout the semester, students demonstrated growth in their confidence, self awareness and willingness to contribute thoughtfully to discussions around wellbeing, respect and personal responsibility.
It was particularly rewarding to see the strong connections that developed within the group, with students supporting one another and engaging maturely with challenging topics in a safe and respectful environment.
Looking Ahead
We thank Alex and BlueSky Community Services for their ongoing partnership and commitment to supporting young people in our community. Programs such as Top Blokes play an important role in helping students develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to thrive both within and beyond the classroom.
Following the success of the program this semester, we look forward to welcoming a new group of students into Top Blokes in Semester Two and continuing to provide opportunities for students to build confidence, connection and positive life skills.
