Celebrating The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy

Celebrating The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy

The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy,” honours the next wave of leaders who will shape the future with courage, insight and deep respect for their culture and community. It recognises the strength of Elders and ancestors, the vision of communities past and present, and the powerful legacy that continues to inspire generations.

In line with this theme, students reflected on what the next generation means to them, coouring artworks inspired by this year’s National NAIDOC Poster Competition. This iconic competition has been a cornerstone of NAIDOC since 1967, with posters that not only showcase extraordinary First Nations art but also symbolise social change and cultural evolution over decades.

A special congratulations goes to Annabel, Inca, Pepper, and Molly for their standout entries, which beautifully captured the essence of strength, vision and legacy.

Respecting Country and Culture

At Allegra School, we pay our respects to the Gumbaynggirr people, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn. We honour their Ancestors, the land’s first teachers, and recognise their valuable contributions to Australian and global society. We value their knowledge systems, stories and traditions as essential elements of a shared journey toward understanding, acceptance and collaboration.

Learn More About NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week is an invitation for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures, histories and contributions. We encourage our community to continue engaging with this important celebration. Acknowledging NAIDOC Week reminds us that reconciliation is a collective and ongoing journey. By taking the time to learn, reflect and celebrate, we stand together with our First Nations communities — past, present and future.
