Exploring Future Pathways at TAFE Coffs Harbour

Allegra Students Discover Career and Study Opportunities Through TAFE Excursions

Allegra School students recently participated in two engaging excursions to the TAFE NSW Coffs Harbour Education Campus, providing valuable insight into the many education, training, and career pathways available after school.

The visits formed part of Allegra’s commitment to supporting students in exploring future goals, developing career awareness, and making informed decisions about life beyond Year 10 and Year 12.

Discovering Trades and Industry Skills

The first excursion focused on trades and practical industries, giving students the opportunity to explore a range of vocational education and training options.

Students visited specialist learning areas including:

  • Construction
  • Plumbing
  • Engineering, Metal Fabrication and Welding
  • Automotive Studies
  • Horticulture and Agriculture

Throughout the tour, students gained a firsthand look at industry-standard facilities and equipment while learning about the practical skills required in each field. Many students enjoyed seeing how classroom learning can connect directly to future employment opportunities and apprenticeships.

Exploring Health, Business and Community Services

The second visit introduced students to a diverse range of study areas and career pathways across the service sector.

Students explored courses and facilities relating to:

  • Business and Accounting
  • Retail and Community Pharmacy
  • Creative Industries
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Nursing and Health Services
  • Aged Care
  • Animal Studies

The experience allowed students to learn more about careers that align with their interests, strengths, and future aspirations. Staff from each faculty shared information about course content, qualifications, and potential employment pathways available through TAFE NSW.

Learning About Student Support Services

A key component of both excursions was a visit to TAFE Student Services.

Students learned about the support available to help them transition into further education and training, including academic assistance, wellbeing support, career guidance, and enrolment advice.

Understanding the range of services available helped students see that there are many supports in place to assist them in achieving their goals after school.

Building Confidence for the Future

At Allegra School, we believe that exploring future pathways is an important part of every student’s educational journey. Experiences such as these help students connect their interests and strengths with real-world opportunities while building confidence in planning for their future.

We would like to thank TAFE NSW Coffs Harbour Education Campus for providing such informative and engaging tours. The excursions gave our students a valuable opportunity to broaden their understanding of post-school options and begin thinking about the many possibilities available to them after graduation.

We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with TAFE NSW and supporting students as they explore pathways that align with their goals, passions, and aspirations.
