Recently, a group of Allegra students attended the Stand Tall youth wellbeing event here in Coffs Harbour. The event brings together students from across the region to hear from guest speakers who share powerful stories about resilience, purpose and believing in your own potential.
The speakers were engaging and thought-provoking, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of self-belief and being open to new opportunities. Their messages reinforced a simple but powerful idea, that growth often begins when we allow ourselves to step beyond what feels comfortable.
For many of our students, attending a large event like this can be a significant challenge. Many of Allegra’s students navigate mental health challenges and neurodivergent diagnoses, and entering a busy environment requires them to dig deep and find their courage. By choosing to attend, our students demonstrated exactly that.
At Allegra, we place great value on creating opportunities for students to experience new environments and perspectives. Experiences like Stand Tall encourage young people to look at the world from different angles, develop a broader perspective and build the confidence to engage with opportunities beyond the classroom.
Throughout the day, our students represented themselves and the school beautifully. They supported one another, listened respectfully and engaged thoughtfully with the speakers. The students who attended should feel incredibly proud of themselves for stepping outside their comfort zones and giving themselves permission to experience something new.
Moments like these are an important part of supporting our students’ personal growth, helping them to recognise their strengths, build confidence and see the possibilities that exist beyond their comfort zones.
