A Journey to Remember: Allegra School's Sydney Camp

At Allegra School Coffs Harbour we understand a little extra support, flexible learning opportunities in small classes and an environment free from prejudice can make a significant impact to a student's confidence, wellbeing and overall school experience.Allegra is a safe learning space for students who find studying and socialising in mainstream schools challenging. We welcome young people struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma, with neurodiversity (on the spectrum) or learning difficulties, who have experienced bullying or who identify as part of the rainbow community.

We believe a small school, makes a big difference. Allegra offers small classes in an adult learning environment. We prioritise personal growth, respectful relationships and instilling a sense of belonging. Allegra offers an inclusive and flexible learning environment tailored to support students in Years 9 & 10. The subjects are the same, it's the delivery that is different. Our goal is to provide young people with the opportunity to realise their potential on both academic and personal levels.

We are not an easy alternative. We are an opportunity to reset, reinvent and refresh your academic and personal goals and provide a support network to assist you working towards those goals. Our students are carefully selected, those willing to commit to bettering themselves while being supportive of others are more likely to be enrolled. While Allegra has a range of support services to assist students with barriers to learning, we do not offer one-on-one behaviour intervention or high levels of behaviour modification.

As an independent school we are a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW and our aim is to offer all eligible young people the chance to grow and mature while undertaking their high school education in a safe and supportive environment. At Allegra we seek to include those young people whose lives may be complicated, challenging or require a particular understanding in order to achieve success.

Allegra School Camp: An Unforgettable Journey to Sydney

From Tuesday, 11th June to Friday, 14th June, 44 Allegra students and 6 staff members embarked on an exciting excursion to Sydney. The trip was a resounding success, with students enjoying every moment and representing Allegra with exemplary behaviour and enthusiasm.

Day 1: Departure and Arrival The journey began early on Tuesday morning with students meeting at Park Avenue, Coffs Harbour at 6:30 AM. After a smooth drive south with rest stops at Taree and Heatherbrae, the group arrived at Land’s Edge Accommodation by 1:30 PM. After unpacking and settling in, students explored Kent Street and enjoyed afternoon tea, followed by an immersive experience at Dark Spectrum and Entermission Virtual Reality Escape Room. The day concluded with a delicious dinner and a good night's rest.

Day 2: Exploring Sydney Wednesday kicked off with a hearty breakfast before a stroll to Paddy's Market. Students had the opportunity to shop and enjoy lunch before heading to the Capitol Theatre for a spectacular performance of "Chicago." The afternoon included free time at Westfield, a visit to the Sydney Eye, and dinner at the Westfield Shopping Mall. The evening was highlighted by a walk through the Botanic Gardens to the Opera House and a Vivid Sydney night walk, showcasing the city's vibrant light displays.

Day 3: Fun at Luna Park and Camping Adventure Thursday was packed with thrills at Luna Park, where students spent the morning enjoying the rides. After lunch, they took a bus to Woolwich Wharf and a ferry to Cockatoo Island. There, they set up tents, had free time to explore, and enjoyed a BBQ dinner. The day ended with a cozy campfire, where students toasted marshmallows, sang songs, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Day 4: Homeward Bound Friday morning began with breakfast and a ferry ride back to Woolwich Wharf. The group then made their way back to Coffs Harbour, with rest stops along the way for lunch and stretching. The students arrived back home by 4:45 PM, tired but filled with wonderful memories.

We would like to extend our thanks to the teachers—Dany, Reggie, Fernando, Kelly, Danielle, and Benn—whose energy and efforts made this exciting adventure possible. Their dedication ensured that the trip was not only educational but also incredibly fun for all involved.

Overall, the Sydney excursion was a fantastic experience, filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories. Our students represented Allegra with pride, and we couldn't be prouder of their conduct and enthusiasm throughout the trip.

Thank you to everyone who made this journey a remarkable success!
