Students at Allegra had the incredible opportunity to participate in Community Week from November 25th to 29th. This exciting initiative allowed students to explore a variety of courses designed to build world skills and foster personal growth. From hands-on workshops to real-world experiences, students immersed themselves in activities that prepared them for future challenges.
Students selected from a diverse range of activities, including a Barista and Safe Food Handling course, where they mastered the art of crafting the perfect espresso and learned essential food safety practices. A highlight of this course was Bailey Cocoran, winner of the Future Innovators Award, who created an engaging clip documenting his experience in the Barista & Safe Food Handling course. Watch it here.
Others took part in First Aid and CPR, equipping themselves with life-saving skills for emergencies. Some students demonstrated entrepreneurial flair at the Market Stall, creating and selling handmade crafts in City Square, while others gave back to the community by participating in the Clean Up Coffs Harbour event, enhancing the local environment through sustainability efforts.
Students also enjoyed the interactive and educational Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary day, learning about wildlife conservation. Workshops such as the Haus of Clay, Bare Weaving, and Yarilla Cultural Workshop offered unique hands-on experiences in pottery, sustainable crafting, and cultural exploration. Additionally, students in work placements spent five days gaining valuable insights into their chosen industries.
Community Week was a resounding success, with students embracing the chance to learn new skills, connect with their peers, and contribute to their community. The week highlighted the importance of teamwork, creativity, and responsibility, inspiring students to continue their journey of growth and learning.
Congratulations to all participants and thank you to the teachers and community partners who made this enriching experience possible!
